Welcome to Brickfilms!

This site is dedicated to the art of stop-motion animation, specifically the art of animating plastic bricks.

On this site, the stars are not highly paid hollywood actors, but little plastic figures.

Some of these movies will be quick childish animations, some will be well thought out, lovingly crafted works of intelligence and creativity.  This page is intended to be a source of information and inspiration to those that wish to create stop motion animation films using the medium of plastic building bricks.  It also serves as a fantastic source to see these movies via our film directory.

NEWS: October 24th, 2003

Bet you didn't expect the Yolegoman posting here, did you? Well, it's me alright. I fixed up the archives. No, it isn't perfect, but all of the logo's are the new logo now, and all of the menu code works. It's a shame that all of the old interviews didn't get put on the new site, but at least they are easier to read now.

One thing I wanted to post, however, was that the "Old News" link now works. Scroll to the bottom and check it out! It was a lot of fun for me to browse all of those old memories...

You can also see the REALLY old site at Topcities Archives. The site had only been up for several months, then!

I hope you enjoy browsing through the old memories, or, if you joined the community after the new site was up, can see what it was like in the "Old Days". Enjoy!

NEWS: August 9, 2003

The new site appears to be working well, so the old site has been placed here in the archive.  It's still a bit of a patchwork, with links not matching and mis-sized logos, just as it was when it was officially replaced by the new pages.

NEWS: March 27, 2003

NEWS: December 5, 2002

It's official!  The winner of the Vox Populi web series is The Sol Chronicles!  Stay tuned for further details on this top-notch sci-fi web series where you decide what will happen!

The reason for this news section not getting much attention last month is two fold:
1. We are working hard on TSC
2. We are in the middle of a new site redesign.  Please see this announcement for updates on where we are in the process.

Curious as to what TSC will look like?  Check out a sample clip of a cityscape here .

NEWS: November 12, 2002

NEWS: September 30, 2002

Another Update! Two new films added this time, a quickie and a short (both just missed out on yesterday's update). My fave is the short, "The Princess and the Frog", don't be put off by the fact that it is filmed at 5fps, it rises above this fact in many ways.

NEWS: July 19, 2002

Brickfest starts today!   I will be there On Saturday, July 20th, and Sunday, June 21st, animating, gawking, and playing.  Hope to see you there!

Updated a few links and such around the site.  With over 200 films in the directory, we have slowed down a bit on the updates to the Directory.

Would you like to help out with the film directory?  Email me (email on the Contact page) if you are a long time member and would like to help out!

NEWS: June 27, 2002

Hello film fans!  A big update today and a lot of new films in the Directory.  Of great note are three films I particularly enjoyed.  The first was a western by a group of student, Legoredo.  The second was Bluntman's Star Wars trailer, Star Wars: Last Strike.  The third is Doug James's Metro, which he has been working on for a long time now.  Enjoy them all in the Film Directory.

Check out another article about Brickfilms, this one at the site Cool Collecting .com .  Regrettably, he did not have time to mention all the wonderful films here.  But in the interest of space, it's nice to be mentioned, huh?

NEWS: June 21, 2002

Hello folks!  If you are in the market for a webcam or a new camera, please check out our guide .  There have been a lot of questions lately in the forums, and this guide is an excellent read.  And ... I finally got some links to Amazon.com, so if you do decide to buy one, please click through so we can get the paltry referral fee and get some more bandwidth for the new site!

Speaking of which, now is a good time to announce that we are in the process of a redesign.  We are working on a whole new look, new content, and best of all, a members area!  We will also have a new search able, sortable film database.

Last but not least, Brickfilms got to interview Ben B or Egoless Productions recently.   Check out the interview here .

Would you like to writer an article for Brickfilms?  Give me an email and tell us your subject and what you propose to write about.
Happy filming!

NEWS: June 11, 2002

Several new films in the Directory today, including a huge update from Dave and Andy of WDLN.tv!  We also have one of the Director's Projects finally up (see the sidebar to the left).

If you missed the announcement about me buying forum regulars lunch at Brickfest, good!  It saves me money!  Seriously though, if you are making a long trip, here is something to look forward to - a chance to talk over a free lunch with your fellow animators and animation enthusiasts.  And a chance to see what I look like without a Captain Morgan mustache!

NEWS: June 5, 2002

Updated a ton of links in the directory.  If you are a director and your link is not working, please post a message here and give us the new link.  Also, if you notice a link is totally dead, please let us know so we can identify these.

NEWS: May 29, 2002

Whew!  Lots of new stuff today.  I'll try to cover it all.

First, we have several new films in the director and I have fixed several links.  If you find any more broken links, please let us know. New films include ones by Bluntman (The Mystery of Bob) and Rod Kent (of Tubewars).  More films on the way soon!

Second, there are two animation festivals going on at Brickfest this year.  One is a Star Wars competition and one is a General festival .

Third, the Historical Fiction Contest Award Show has finally been released.  Check it out in the Directory.

And last but not least, we are planning a little get together tomorrow, Thursday the 30th of May.  The chat room (link be found at the top of this page) will be a gathering place tomorrow from 1 - 3 PM EST for general discussion and suggestions on the next film contest.  See you there!

NEWS: May 17, 2002

Will you be going to Brickfest this year?  I will be there in the flesh, in mid July.  Check out the banner above and click to get more info.

NEWS: May 10, 2002

8 new films in the directory today.  Check out two new ones by Nick Maniatis, winner of the Historical Fiction Contest.  There is also an 8 minute film by a French director, which was interesting.  Appréciez!

NEWS: May 3, 2002

Yowsa!  23 new films in the directory today!  It's a feast!  There will be another update shortly with a few more films, but that update took a lot outta me.  It's 5:00 on Friday and I need a beer. :)

Enjoy, friends.

Whoops, almost forgot.  Brickfilms was mentioned recently in TVGuide Online (for you Europeans, TVGuide is just what it sounds like, and has a fairly big circulation / readership).  Welcome, TV Guide readers!  By the way, a small correction . . . TV Guide did not contact me before writing or printing this article.  I do not recommend the LEGO camera, especially over the several different webcams that have popped up recently.

NEWS: April 21, 2002

Hey everyone!  Are you wondering why there have been no movies added to the Directory recently?  Well, it's a long story, but basically, I somehow screwed up the brickfilms_submit@yahoo.com email address.  If you have submitted a film in the last month or so (bascially, if you don't see it in the directory yet), please resubmit with the new email address submit_brickfilms@yahoo.com.

Sorry for the inconvenience.  Happy filming!

NEWS: April 10, 2002

Your camera got you down?  Looking for a new one?  Check out this article on webcams, digital cameras, and digital video cameras.  Still have questions?  Ask around in the forum .

NEWS: April 8, 2002

We are back!  I paid the ransom and got the domain back.  The internet seems civilized sometimes, but others it seems like the wild wild west to me.   I guess the "opening up" of registrars did not really work.  But anyway, the site is now working!

3 new films in the Directory today.  Enjoy!

Please join me in congratulating  Nick Maniatis for winning the Histoical Fiction contest!  As always, the results of this wonderful contest can be found on the Contests page.  Brick animation has taken great strides in the last year, and the entries here are shining examples of our craft.  Feel free to watch them all again and discuss them in the forum!

NEWS: April 1, 2002

The contest winners have been announced!  Go to the Contests page to see the results.

As you may have noticed, Brickfilms.com is down.  Well, it is not actually down, but the domain name is in a state of flux.  I am resolving it right now, so please be patient as I fight the ICANN and Network Solutions.

NEWS: March 18, 2002

The contest nominees have been announced!   Click here to see them!

Full, detailed, page long reviews of each movie will be posted in about a week and a half.  Along with this posting will come the animated awards ceremony announcing the winners.  Stay tuned for the big event, and make sure to vote for your favorite in the poll forum .

NEWS: March 13, 2002

For the verbose-philes' pleasure, you will notice we added a chat room today.  Talk away!
