How and When to Use Film Clips Appropriately

CThe use of film clips is becoming more and more popular in today’s age of multimedia technology. However, as with any audio or visual aid, there is a right way and a wrong way to use film clips. Used in the right way, film clips can be excellent aids, helping to demonstrate a point or idea. Careful clip selection is integral to creating a thought provoking presentation. Using too many clips, though, can ruin even a well-planned demonstration. Keep the following tips in mind to ensure you will use your film clips efficiently and effectively.

One of the most popular ways to use film clips is to use them in blogs or other online media to highlight a certain idea or part of a certain film you wish to talk about. This works best when the clips are short and relevant. You must also be sure to explain the reason you included the clip, or it will seem out of place and random. Inclusion of clips in blogs has become popular thanks to YouTube and other services that allow embedding video clips in web pages. One downside, however, is that the ease of use has led to overuse. To combat this, make sure the clips you include are relevant and aren’t shown just for the sake of having clips on your blog space.

Film clips can also be very useful in presentations and in teaching. They can add a visual element to whatever you are trying to explain. The clips can also be used to open up issues in media and film for open discussion. Once again, film clips used in a classroom or demonstrative setting work best when they are kept short and relevant to what is being discussed. As long as you follow these tips, you will be able to use film clips to demonstrate points you wish to discuss with ease.
