Film Trailers: The Beginning, The Makeup Of Film Trailers
There is a lot to understand when it comes to the history of film trailers as this form of movie advertisement has gone through a lot of changes throughout time. In the beginning, these film advertisements were always placed at the end of the movies instead of at the beginning, which so many of us are used to now. The reason for the switch from the end of the movie to the beginning is because it was noticed that movie patrons would end up leaving as soon after the feature film ended, therefore the film advertisements were not getting as much attention as they would have liked.
The Changing LookThe purpose behind film trailers is to give the patron the idea of what the movie is about without giving away the whole story, especially the ending. Throughout the history of these advertisements, there was always the goal to leave the audience wanting more although there have been several ways that this has been attempted. In the beginning, before the sixties, trailers were generally shown without narration and they would splatter oversized wording across the screen to get a message across to the viewers. This later changed in the mid nineteen sixties as an actor was finally hired to do the voiceover for a trailer. And from there, voiceovers and higher quality editing begin to take over the world of film trailers.
The Best Receive AwardsAs most people already know, there are a lot of awards given out for movies and they are broken down into categories. What a lot of people are not aware of is that film trailers can receive awards as well since they really are small forms of movie artwork. Those who are among the best at creating top-notch film trailers can be given credit where credit is due. There are two main events which give out awards for are the Key Art Awards and the Golden Trailer Awards which are yearly events.
