Meant to be done by the HaV contest deadline, it took 3 more months for it to finally be released in it's rough cut form.

I spent quite a while developing the story, hence my turtle speed during the contest period. There were many compromises in the production of this film, mainly animating and having to synchronize to late submissions of audio later on.

Featuring a cast of very talented (yet varying microphone quality) voice actors and actresses.

Featuring music by Johan Van Barel, Lee Graham, Law Sm, Scott Starrett, SpAcMo, and For Great Justice.

This film is quite violent, so be warned.

Repent is an impressive brickfilm. A good brickfilm, even. The story is original, well-developed and captivating. The sets are impressive, and most of the animation is very creative and fluid. A large cast has been assembled, and most lines are delivered very well.

However, it could have been even better. There are large differences in recording quality, the most obvious of which is the main character suddenly switching over to a different take, which is quite noticeable. I'm not an expert, but I believe that some preprocessing could have made the differences less noticeable. Furthermore, though there are many well-placed sound effects, I'd have liked some background sounds in one or two places to fill things up. The bullet-time animation is a bit shaky. The editing is not as polished as it could be in places (hence the "rough cut" in the title, I guess).

Nonetheless, this is a film you should check out, both for entertainment and for inspiration: it's a great example of how a brickfilm could (maybe should?) be made.

Delivering film via the internet is still trying to find its place right now, so please be patient when downloading a movie. Also, since many of these films are hosted on free sites (most of us are not paid to do this, after all), sometimes waiting a few minutes and coming back will resolve a downloading error. If you get a persistent error, pop into the Forum and ask away.

Keep in mind that different formats require different movie players and sometimes even encoding formats, called "codecs", to be installed on your system.

We've got a list of common codecs here on the Resources page, and links to where you can download them.
