| | The Gauntlet was one of the first brickfilms I ever saw, and I remember how stunned I was at its amazing visual quality. To this day I still watch The Gauntlet often and and am still stunned every time. The animation is superb. I especially like the running as it looks very real and natural. The camera work is outstanding. The angles are all very well chosen, and the various camera movements are unbelievably smooth. The sets are beautiful and very appropriately lit. The special effects are minimal in comparison to Rise of the Empire, Jays other film, but still gorgeous. And lastly, the story fits the music wonderfully. This film is a must see.
Also one of the first few brickfilms I saw, and it is still high on my 'rotation' list and one of the first I show to people who have not seen brickfilms before. This film really has it all: excellent cinematography, careful and effective use of light, realistic animation, laughs, great pacing and a scenario that fits right in with the music. Special mentions must go to the set design, the impression of space is spectacular, and the golem, an awesome lego MOC. Unmissable.
This was not one of the first Brickfilms I saw, but it still stood out. At the time, few films came close to the standard of quality seen in this film. The animation, cinematography, minimal but well-done effects, and music all work together perfectly. Visually impressive, despite the unfortunately low resolution it was shot at. One of my all-time favorites.
