Shale: We made this film for our older sister's 27'th birthday. It's the first Twobit, Shale and Captain Bulldog collaboration, with a vocal cameo from Sparks Flying. We had a rather strict deadline, completing it in two days' time.
Captain Bulldog: At first I was dissapointed when I had to animate the later half of the film, when there wasn't much dialogue. But I had a lot of fun doing the action sequences and I think they came out pretty good.
TwoBit: While the script was written by me, the animation was divided among all three of us. My sister enjoyed the film, which was definitely a good thing, because that was our target audience all along. |

As stated above, Birthday Cake was made for a specific someone, and so some of the humor may be lost on the general public. However, it is still a fun little short. Animation and picture quality is good. The unchanging movement of the overhead fan is especially impressive considering three different animators worked on this film. One again the Boyle's trademark clay modeling is featured, and there is decent voice acting from four of the Boyle clan. All in all, a nice little film thatresults in a fun birthday gift.
