Lego Games
The only real limit to the number of Lego games that can be played with a set of Lego bricks is the limit to the imagination itself. If ideas are slow to come, however, the manufacturer has a number of games to help get the inspiration flowing.
Two to four players can play one of the very popular Lego games - Lego Creator. In this game, players roll the dice, then follow instructions for accumulating different colors and configurations of bricks. The first player to finish a model wins the game. When this gets easy, there's a deluxe version to continue the fun.
Another popular option in the Lego games series is Lego Racers, where players compete to build a race track using cardboard pieces. Once the track is complete, players spin a wheel to maneuver through the race track, earn power-enhancing features for their cars, and strive to be the first car over the finish line.
Time Cruisers takes Lego games back in time to four separate destinations depicted on a board. Each player's minifigure navigates through each time period collecting artifacts along the way. No duplicate artifacts are allowed, though. There may be headgear available in each of the time periods, for example, but once a player has collected one type of headgear, no more headgear is allowed.
Bionicle: The Quest is actually a series of Lego games that present a different quest with each release. Playing pieces are unique to the individual quest but they all include a game board, die, quest cards, collectible game pieces, and any other special equipment required to play a particular game.
There are other Lego games available, too, and collectors will delight in finding discontinued games at antiques stores, flea markets, and toy trade shows.
Board games aren't the only type of games made by Lego, however. The popularity of the computers and video games has paved the way for a never-ending list of Lego games using these technologies.
Children as young as preschool age can enjoy Lego games on computers and so can their big brothers and sisters. Technology-based Lego games include the Bionicle series of games and games based on popular movies and comic book heroes, such as Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and Batman.
Brainier types may prefer Lego games version of chess and athletic types may want to enjoy Soccer Mania, stunt rallies, or road racing.
